reclamation (an all hallows study)

(an all hallows study)

If I die young
bury me in satin
please say only
good things about me
don’t let my loss
be all that defines me.

don’t let the sorrow confine me.

Just wanted to be
more than less
than all I can be
just needed to know
my heart isn’t stone
or I lie here alone.

don’t let the shadows entwine me.

a soft decay
an unquiet wait
that smothers my face
refining the earth
the opposite side
of a moment of birth.

don’t let the absence reclaim me.

If I die young
bury me in satin
don’t let the tears
obscure the touch
of hand in hand
I felt so much;

don’t let the world forget me.
